Ingeborg de Roode (1962) studied art history in Leiden (NL) and is curator of industrial design in the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. From 1990 till 2004 she has been a freelance correspondent on design for the national financial newspaper, Het Financieele Dagblad. From 1993 to 2001 she was design curator in the Netherlands Textile Museum. She has published on GDR design, the cooperation between designers and industry, the application of new materials and technology in the fashion and interior design sectors (e.g. ‘I want to make new things, Innovation in the work of Ron Arad’ in exh.cat. of Centre Pompidou and MoMA, 2008/2009), international furniture design (e.g. co-editor of The Furniture Collection 1850-2000, The Stedelijk Museum, 2004) and other subjects. Her most recent exhibitions include Marcel Wanders Pinned Up. 25 years of Design (2014, with accompanying publication), What Design Can Do (co-curated with two colleagues, with work by a.o. Daisy Ginsberg, Dror Benshetrit, The Campana Brothers, Bompas & Parr and others) and Living in the Amsterdam School. Designs for the Interior 1910–1930 (2016, with accompanying publication). She has lectured internationally and has been a member of many juries and boards.
